A
universal (open drain) output for focus-assist lamps is available
and will be activated to help the camera focus in low-light situations.
Technical description of the AF output on demand.
All
required connections are discribed in the supplied and detailed
manual. The unit was intentionally made for strobe and housing manufactures
but individuals will be able to install the units, as well. (If
you can use a soldering iron).
ETTL
is a very complex protocol and requires a special preflash (modulated
"linear preflash") which common underwater strobes cannot
reproduce. This converter fires a normal preflash and because of
very exact timings the results are accurate. Even in mixed light
situations.
Please
note the following facts:
-
ETTL-highspeed
sync is not supported, min. shutter is 1/200sec
-
The
battery (type CR2032) will last for 100 to 200 hours. A power
saving st By mode will be activated if the external strobe is
set to OFF. Battery will last for at least 2 years in st.By.
-
Camera
uses more than 150 power levels for the strobe
-
to
compensate little differences of the strobes a potentiometer
is included. An external potentiometer will allow flash exposure
compensation settings. The connection of the external components
is described in the manual.
-
connectors
with pigtails (~25cm) are supplied
