FAQ

Do I have to make modifications to my YS60 TTL/S in order to use it with your Adapter DA-O-S?

No.

Are we talking about actual TTL here, or is it really just a slave flash?

It is actual TTL, neither an "automatic" flash nor a computer shutter. The latter would force you to adjust the shutter manually before each picture; a TTL strobe (e.g. with our adapter) needs no adjustment.

Do you also sell strobes? Where else might I be able to buy a suitable strobe?

No, we don't sell strobes and we do not sell sync cables!

Used strobes can be found via eBay, sometimes also through online panels. Also successful might be a note on the blackboard of your diving club or simply asking around amongst other divers.

Would you recommend any strobes in particular?

As usual, it depends on what kind of photography you practice primarily. For more or less common usage, a strobe with about 50 W/s should be more than adequate. While they might be a bit weak for the inside of a wreck of in caves, they're light and relatively cheap.

Consequently, we recommend a Sea&Sea-YS50 TTL/N or a YS60 TTL/N (N stands for Nikonos connector). Our Adapter was originally built for these strobes; a bit of effort should make it possible to find one for about 120-150 €. For a slightly improved performance, you might want to buy a YS120 TTL/S or -TTL/N. However, you should be prepared to pay a noticeably higher price.

How is the Digital Adapter supposed to be attached to the housing?

We include a strip self-adhesing "hock and loop" tape ("3M Dual Lock SJ 356 D").

I'd like to use your adapter for a Sea&Sea YS90 DX. What kind of sync cord do I need?

You need a "Sync Cord S for Sea&Sea Strobes (#17200)" or a "Sync Cord N for Sea&Sea Strobes (#17100)." Neither is included when you buy our Digital Adapter 2. Please note that we do not sell sync cords.
